Launching Nitehawk Cinema’s second location.

New York Times Exclusive.

I created and executed a communications strategy announcing Nitehawk Cinema’s second location. After nearly a decade, the beloved theater would be expanding and saving a nearly 100-year-old Brooklyn theater in the process. The situation was ripe with elements deserving an exclusive, which I secured in The New York Times. The story was picked up by 20 local news and film outlets, like this NY1 behind-the-scenes segment, and shared 14,500 times across Facebook and Twitter.

Farewell Pavilion.

Since the renovation would at least 2 years, I presented the idea that we “pour one out” for the Pavilion Theater with a free farewell party and invite the neighborhood. The goal was to build some rapport and trust within the neighborhood and honor their only theater that we were taking away for a bit. Our Events Manager brought my idea to life and we welcomed nearly 1000 people. Local media like Brokelyn, BrooklynVegan, BKLYNER, and DNAInfo loved it.

First Look.

A year into construction and our initial opening date in the rearview, the press and the public were getting antsy for updates on the renovation progress. The founder and I decided to offer hard hat tour to press to report on the status. It resulted in coverage in The New York Times, Curbed, Bedford + Bowery, Untapped Cities, and Brownstoner.
