During my time with Atlas Obscura, I led and promoted events to raise Atlas Obscura’s profile with targeted audiences.

W Hotel Panel

About a month into my job, I inherited a partnered panel idea with W Hotel New York as part of their “What She Said” series. I oversaw the completion and execution of “Women in Exploration,” which highlighted both Atlas Obscura female team members and legends of the travel industry including Christine Dennison and the late, great Barbara Hillary.

South by Southwest

Atlas Obscura’s Brand Partnerships and Experiences teams have put together excellent events for clients, but 2019’s South by Southwest (SXSW) “In the Element” partnership with Gore-Tex is one of the most high profile. I promoted the event and attended to supervise photography and liaise with journalists I invited. Vogue Italia provided a preview mention and music recap, while Women’s Wear Daily, BizBash, and Texas Lifestyle Magazine provided write-ups in their SXSW coverage.

Travel and Adventure Show

As part of a brand awareness push to promote Atlas Obscura as a travel brand, I initiated and arranged our participation in the Travel and Adventure trade show and managed the project from inception to execution. We were able to meet current fans face-to-face and court new potential travelers.

Travel + Leisure

The pandemic forced Atlas Obscura to hit pause on its guided tours. To reintroduce the world to its new COVID safety protocols and socially-distanced adventures, I invited Travel + Leisure to experience it firsthand, which resulted in a three-page article in print and online.
